What Customers Say About Garmin nüvi 780 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct Service:
|
|
It seems to want to route the main roads only as shortest travel time. This product is very good but not perfect. Overall it has all of the bells & whistles however it's shortest-route mapping in my local area seems to be a little too generalized. I would beg to differ w/ some of those routes. Overall however it's a good GPS at a reasonable price.
The receiver is built in to the power cord, which is said to have a battery backup to recieve and store information.Cons:- If you want the MSN service, check MSN Direct on the web, and make sure it is available in your area. Garmin nüvi 780 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct ServiceI have had this GPS for a couple of weeks, and it works great. Amazon states that if it is downlevel, you can purchase a map update at garmin[.].- Bluetooth works great with my samsung Instinct phone. When returning to find you car, switch to "pedestrian mode" and go to favorites (to your cars saved loc).- When you select "where am I", It displays loc, and nearest police, hospital, gas.- It will let you do multiple destinations instead of one at a time.- Comes with the MSN service free for 3 months. Also, if you use your phone over the fm radio, it could be picked up by nearby cars.Summary: This is a great GPS and the good points far outway the bad ones. It uploads your phone book fast, everytime you turn on the gps.
Everyone else in MN is out of luck.- It doesn't come with a memory card, case, or indoor charger.- The fm transmitter idea doesn't work well. Here are some key points:Pros: - Larger color screen than previous models- Garmin gives you a free map update at garmin[.]., "my Garmin" when you register the garmin. In Minnesota, it is only available in about a 50 mile radius of Minneapolis. It identifies incoming calls the way you have them in your address book, and the built in mike and speakers work fine. You can also use voice recognition.-The detour feature works good.- I like the way it displays the posted speed limit.- To find your car in a parking lot, click on "where am I" and save the loc to your favorites. You hear static at times which is annoying.
But Garmin didn't mention that the weather was only the predicted high, low and humidity-the common forecast for the day. My 2820 was getting some age on it, & I didn't get the traffic/weather antenna w/it. This is my 3rd Garmin. Another $200-I now know would have gotten me the weather maps that even my old unit would've done if I'd sprung for the "extra" anntenna. After spending @700 on it, another $100+ seemed like robbery. The new unit purported Bluetooth and a built in antenna for MSN--traffic plus more.I'd relied on the Bluetooth and was looking forward to the MSN features. VERY VERY IRRITATING. Shame on Garmin, Shame.
I am very happy with this GPS system, very easy to use, excellent value
Garmin nüvi 780 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct Service I wish unit it self get MSN signal, not only from the car charger. Other then that I don't find anything wrong so far.
